School Meals

School meals at Saxon Mount are provided by Chartwells.  Menus run on a three-week rotation and are changed in Term 2 and 5 each year.  You can pay for school meals at ParentPay - Leading Cashless Payment System for Schools  and they are currently priced at £2.95 per day. 

Pupils will select their lunch choice each day during tutor time.

Free School Meals

Are you entitled?

For every child eligible for Targeted Free School Meals the school receives £1,100 per child in additional funding from East Sussex County Council per year. This money is vital to the school in order to develop the right support for our children. Without this money the school is not able to provide all the additional services we would like to.

Who is entitled?

Free school meals are not provided automatically. You have to apply.

Targeted free school meals

Eligible pupils are from households who:

• get Universal Credit with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less
• get support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
• get Income-related Employment and Support Allowance or the guarantee element of Pension Credit
• are families with no recourse to public funds (NRPF)

Children on targeted free school meals will be eligible for Pupil Premium and the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF). They may also qualify for school travel assistance.

Expanded Free School Meals

From the start of the 2026/27 school year, the Department for Education will extend entitlement to free school meals to include all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit.

Eligibility rechecks

Eligibility will be checked annually. The checked result is valid for the full academic year.
