Year 8/9 Open Doors Trip to Rye Nature Reserve

Back
21st May 2025

During May, some Year 8/9 pupils enjoyed a trip to Rye Nature Reserve as part of the Open Doors programme, which aims to give children a real life insight into different jobs in the local area.

We started with some activities in the classroom relating to careers at the visitor centre, and then got to see these careers in action when we had a tour of the discovery centre and cafe.

We finished our visit with a walk down to the bird hide where we used binoculars to find different

wildlife species living on the reserve, and talked about their adaptations. This activity linked in nicely with the topics they have covered in Science this year too!

A thoroughly enjoyable and informative visit.
